A comment on my style
In a magazine, I once read a quote by the owner of a world renown art gallery in New York City. He said, "Art should be disturbing, great art should make you angry." I disagree totally. The world is quite satiated with noise and anger and angst.
Maybe because I've gardened all my life, had my hands in the soil, I've developed an earthy appreciation for simple things. I believe that every living thing has at its core a very quiet power. I'm inspired by unembelished essence. An iris goes about its existence simply being an "iris" for all it's worth. I desire to capture that dignity and fundamental nature of every subject, whether it is an grand historic home, a dilapidated vehicle, a person, or a fresh bloom.
I intend for my artwork to create a joyful space of calm and delight. I hope you enjoy it.
